Thursday, February 10 08:00 - 09:30 (Calgary)
Chair: Otto KÄRKI, member of PIARC TC 3.2, Finland
This topic will look at what winter information the general public want and need to know, and the best platforms to use to ensure the information can be delivered clearly and efficiently using both manual input and information being received and sent from connected vehicles. Also, what are the effects winter conditions will have on connected and autonomous vehicles; and the effect connected and autonomous vehicles on winter service? Autonomous vehicles might still be future but newest assistance systems already come very close. Many of these systems are based no camera images when tracing lanes. Adverse weather, especially snow on the road, are a challenge for those systems This session deals with first experiences with autonomous vehicles during winter weather.
