Chair : Mr. Kiyohiro IMAI, Chair of PIARC TC 4.2, Japan

Bridge resilience to seismic events can be represented as a combined measure of bridge mitigation and its recovery after seismic events. With regard to road bridges, seismic events have caused severe damage to road bridges in seismic areas that have resulted in closing of road networks. For this session, papers which describe mitigation to accommodate effects due to seismic events, damage-resilience of road bridges in Seismic areas and seismic retrofit techniques to enhance resilience of road bridges are invited and discussed during the session.
